Learning about the past is crucial for understanding the present and shaping the future. There are different ways to learn about the past, including written documents, films, and video records. Some people believe that films and video records are better ways to learn about the way people lived in the past than written documents. In this essay, we will discuss the extent to which we agree or disagree with this statement.

One advantage of using films and video records to learn about the past is that they provide a more immersive experience than written documents. Films and video records can help us visualize the past, and it can be easier to understand what life was like in different historical periods. For example, historical films and documentaries can show us what it was like to live in ancient civilizations or experience significant historical events such as World War II. Therefore, it can be argued that films and video records can be more engaging and memorable than written documents.

On the other hand, written documents can provide more detailed and accurate information about the past than films and video records. Written documents such as historical records, diaries, and letters provide firsthand accounts of historical events and give us insight into the daily lives of people in the past. They can help us understand the social, cultural, and political contexts of the time. Furthermore, written documents can be studied in more depth, and the information can be cross-referenced with other sources to verify its accuracy.

In my opinion, while films and video records can provide a more immersive experience, and written documents can provide more detailed and accurate information, both are important for learning about the past. It is essential to use both methods to gain a comprehensive understanding of the past. Therefore, it is not a matter of choosing one method over the other, but rather using them together to complement and enhance each other. Ultimately, learning about the past is a fascinating and essential part of understanding the world around us, and we should use all available resources to gain insight into the way people lived in the past.

In conclusion, both films and video records and written documents are essential for learning about the past. While films and video records offer an immersive experience, written documents provide detailed and accurate information. We should use both methods to gain a comprehensive understanding of the past, as they can complement and enhance each other. Ultimately, understanding the way people lived in the past is crucial for understanding the world around us, and we should make the most of all available resources to achieve this.

( Band 9 | Double question essay| 10th January) Image by Pexels Sample Answer 1 The past thirty years have witnessed a significant increase in car ownership worldwide, resulting in constant traffic jams in many cities. To address this issue, governments need to take measures to discourage people from owning cars and encourage the use of public transportation. One of the main reasons for the increase in car ownership is the rise in personal income and standard of living. As people become wealthier, they are more likely to purchase cars for their convenience and...

Some countries have legal ages at which people can drink. Other countries believe not have strict laws is a better policy. Discuss both sides and give your own opinion. ( Band 9 discussion IELTS essay | 9th January) Image by  pexels Sample Answer 1 The legal age for drinking is a controversial topic worldwide. Some countries enforce strict laws regarding the legal age for drinking, while others believe that having flexible laws is a better policy. In my opinion, having a legal age for drinking can be beneficial, but the severity of the law depends on the country's culture and social norms. One cause of having a legal age for drinking is to reduce the number of drunken driving incidents. Young adults who consume alcohol are more likely to engage in risky activities like driving under the influence. For instance, in the United States, the legal age for drinking is 21, and since the law's implementation, the number of drunken driving accidents has significantly reduced. On t...

26th FEBRUARY | IELTS RECENT ESSAY | NEIGHBORS

Today, many people do not know their neighbors. What problem does this cause? What can be done about this? (Band 9 | Double question essay | 26th February) Image by Pexels Sample Answer 1 In today's world, many individuals are living in isolation, and as a result, they are not familiar with their neighbors. In my opinion, this is a serious issue that has many negative consequences. This essay will discuss the problems that arise due to this trend and suggest some solutions to this problem. Not knowing your neighbors can result in a lack of community cohesion. When people do not know each other, they are less likely to be involved in activities or events that could bring the community together. For instance, people may not participate in neighborhood watch programs or other community initiatives. Furthermore, when there is a lack of community cohesion, people are less likely to help each other in times of need, such as during a natural disaster or crisis. Another problem caused by ...
